Special Report: Communique Issued After Coalition Of Maritime Journalists Association Of Nigeria One Day Conference In Port Harcourt, With The Theme: "Advancing Global Logistics In A Blue Economy"
“On this day, 20th November 2024, members of Coalition of Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (COMJAN) organised a one day Conference on the theme: "Advancing Global Logistics in a Blue Economy", at Swiss Spirit Hotel, Stadium Road, Port Harcourt.
Many papers were presented at the event, with contributions from stakeholders, including Nigeria Customs Service, Nigeria Quarantine Service, NAGAFF, ANLCA, Nigeria Ports Police Authority, Eastern Command etc.
At the end of the day, several resolutions were taken. They are:
1. Stakeholders applauded COMJAN for organising this important/effective seminar, aimed at proffering solutions for the Maritime and the Blue Economy.
2. Stakeholders agree on the need for Federal Government to take consistent efforts in preserving the Nigerian Ocean - Eco - System.
3. Stakeholders also agree that Nigeria should take pragmatic efforts to emulate the Asian Countries like Hung Kong, United Arab Republic (UAE), others that grow their economy through the Blue/Marine Economy.
4. Stakeholders also agree to loudly applaud the assistance and support currently being provided by Honourable Minister of Marine & Blue Economy, Chief Adegboyega Oyetola, for successes and achievements recorded in the sector.
5. Stakeholders also agree to applaud the Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr Abubakar Dantsoho, and his management team for their pro - activeness in addressing challenges across the ports.
6. Stakeholders harps on the need for Federal Government Agencies, and Security Organizations to work in synergy for optimal operations across the ports.
7. Stakeholders applaud Eastern Ports Police and other security operatives on the need to aggravate their security of critical FG infrastructures/assets across the Marine & Blue Economy.
8. Stakeholders harp on the need for full compliance with fiscal policies established by Federal Government Agency, by the Shipping Trade Group, importers & exporters.
9. Stakeholders agree that all critical Maritime Operators should partner with Maritime Media Practitioners on training/re - training as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) agenda.
10. Stakeholders task COMJAN to make this kind - of Conference, an annual event with a workable Communique for government implementation, aimed at advancing global logistics in a Blue Economy.”
